For most couples rain on your engagement session day could mean a new date for sunnier skies but for Slim & Halie, this rainy Manhattan day just added to the romance. Before our shoot began, we ducked in a hotel bar to grab some drinks and waited out the heaviest of the rain clouds. Often times, if we haven’t been able to spend time together before our shoot, we are getting to know each other with a camera in between us. The opportunity to actually sit down before our shoot and share some laughs, really helped them feel more comfortable in front of the camera and made for some seriously steamy images (the cocktails may have helped that too! 😉

I don’t know if you have ever seen the Notebook (if not, drop what you’re doing, grab a box of tissues and cue it up) but I feel like that steamy kissing in the rain scene has nothing on these two. They both leaned into the moment, embraced the wet look and just connected with each other. Combine their genuine romance with the epic city views and you have the perfect New York City love story.

In between make out sessions, we explored Dumbo together and found some quiet areas amongst the city to create some stunning portraits. I love not only the energy of their images but that they are captured in a place that holds meaning for them as a couple. Couples sessions are like time capsules for your relationship, one that you can revisit again and again as your relationship grows and evolves. I love the simplicity of focusing on your connection, doing something that you love together and having these images stand the test of time.
